Bezo Money And Over 30 Other Digital Lending Apps Named For Cyber Breaches
The Cyber Security Authority has implicated over 30 companies including Ahomka Loan and Express Loan, Home Credit and Pea Money for various cyber breaches in the provision of digital loans to customers. These companies have not met the compliance obligations of the Data Protection Commission and the Banks and Specialised Deposit-Taking Act and are demanding high-interest payments and threatening clients after borrowing, leading to a resurgence in cyberbullying.
The Cybersecurity Authority is advising the public against using these apps and urged reporting any suspicious activities.

Ghana’s Ismart Gets ISO Certification For Information Security Management
iSmart International Ghana Limited, one of Ghana’s leading payment solution and mobile value-added services providers, has obtained an ISO 27001:2022 certification after meeting a very rigorous set of criteria for information security management.
For what it does, iSmart interacts with a lot of customer data and information, which requires that it meets high global standards from information security and management. The certification process includes a comprehensive assessment of the applicant’s security practices, policies, and controls to ensure they align with the international standards set by ISO.
Content Creators In Ghana Can Monetize On Facebook and Instagram
Ghanaian Facebook and Instagram creators can now monetize their content through various channels such as in-stream ads, live ads, and ads on reels.
Those eligible for advertising revenue can set up their payout accounts through their Meta Business accounts to receive payouts from advertising.

EdTech Kibo School Announces Shut Down Of Its Operations
Kibo, an online school that offers several STEM degree programs targeted at students in Africa, has announced that it will be shutting down and effectively ending its degree program in computer science. The online school which sought to build a world-class computer science degree, with global faculty, stated that it struggled to financially sustain its operations. The platform in 2022 had raised $2 million in a seed round led by VC firm Neo.

25 Senior High Schools Benefit From MTN Y’ELLO Care
The 2024 MTN Y’ello Care initiative in collaboration with node eight and other hubs is offering digital literacy lessons to selected senior high schools across the country. The students are learning about artificial intelligence and robotics and how these technologies can be applied in their studies and daily lives. They are also being introduced to the Ghana Knowledge and Skills Cloud-Based Platform (GKSB), which serves as a repository of educational resources and training materials for teachers and students.
Ethel Cofie, a renowned Ghanaian tech entrepreneur and founder of Women in Tech Africa is partnering with Viamo and the Telecel Foundation to enhance leadership and career development for professionals in Ghana and Liberia.
This partnership will leverage Viamo’s innovative mobile technology to deliver modules on leadership, strategic thinking, and career advancement, accessible through the Viamo platform.
