Ghana Launches $550 Billion Energy Transition and Investment Plan for Achieving Net-Zero Emissions By 2060
President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, at the Global Africa Business Initiative event in New York, launched the country’s new Energy Transition and Investment plan which details a credible pathway for how Ghana can achieve net-zero energy-related carbon emissions by 2060, through the deployment of low-carbon solutions across key sectors of its economy, including oil and gas, industry, transport, cooking, and power.

Ghana Drops 8 Places From Last Year in Surfshark’s Annual Digital Quality of Life Index (DQL)
The Digital Quality of Life Index is an annual study that ranks 121 countries by their digital wellbeing based on 5 core pillars. Out of the Index’s 5 pillars, Ghana performed best in e-security, claiming 83rd place, while facing challenges in e-infrastructure, ranking 108th. The nation ranks 86th in internet quality, 89th in e-government, and 103rd in internet affordability.
MTN MoMo, Hubtel, ECG Provide Enhanced Bills Payment Solution for customers
MobileMoney Limited (MML) operators of (MTN MoMo) has partnered with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Hubtel, an eCommerce platform to provide enhanced bill payment solutions to customers.The partnership will provide customers the ease and convenience of paying electricity bills instantly with their active MoMo account and ECG account number.

Ghana’s Complete Farmer, which connects farmers to global food buyers, raises $10.4M
Complete Farmer, an end-to-end agricultural marketplace, has raised $10.4 million ($7 million equity and $3.4 million debt) in a pre-Series A funding round to consolidate its efforts in the agricultural space. The debt financing was provided by Sahel Capital’s SEFAA (Social Enterprise Fund for Agriculture in Africa) Fund, Alpha Mundi Group’s Alpha Jiri Investment Fund, and Global Social Impact Investments.

Ghana’s youth robotics team is preparing to compete in Singapore on October 7-10th, 2023, at FIRST Global, an annual Olympic-style international robotics competition that brings together youth from all around the world to share their passion for STEM.

Vodafone Foundation’s STEM and robotics training elevates young girls in the Western Region
50 young girls aged 12–15 years from Sekondi-Takoradi have undergone free STEM and Robotics training as part of Vodafone’s ‘Grow Western 2023 Initiative. The training was meant to equip these young minds with skills in robotics, web development and coding.
