Ghana Rolls out 5G Internet Service In Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi
Government of Ghana and It’s 5G consortium NGIC will begin a phased rollout of the 5G service starting in major cities such as Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi, followed by additional urban centers by the end of 2024. Full nationwide coverage, including rural areas, is targeted for completion by 2026.
Jumia To Use Agility Logistics Park Ghana as Its National Hub
Jumia, the Africa e-commerce platform, has chosen Agility Logistics Park (ALP) in Tema, Ghana, to be its new nationwide fulfilment operations centre for Ghana, under a 10-year lease agreement with ALP.
The facility will hold a wide range of products and be used to process orders and ship deliveries to consumers across Ghana.
Starlink’s Lack of Ground Stations Are Limiting Access To Users in Ghana
Countries like Ghana and Nigeria have shown significant interest in Starlink’s internet services. In Ghana, cities like Accra have embraced Starlink for its promise to bridge the digital divide, especially where local ISPs struggle to provide stable service. However, Starlink’s capacity is facing limits due to heavy user demand and limited local infrastructure hence the need for ground stations in or near these cities to allow the satellite network handle more users and relieve data traffic, reducing latency and boosting service reliability.
MTN Ghana Reports GH₵12.7 Billion Revenue For Q3
MTN Ghana has reported robust performance for the nine months ending September 30, 2024, driven by significant growth in its digital and financial services. The company recorded a 32 percent year-on-year (YoY) increase in service revenue, totaling GH₵12.7 billion.
