Data Cost To Reduce By End Of Year — Sam George
“ To the citizens of this country, my promise is that by the end of this year, we will see data prices drop, and I remain committed to it. We will deliver on that. I trust the process. A committee that was set up in February,2025 has developed a roadmap that would lead to the drop in data prices’’ – Sam George.

ECG Rolls Out Real-Time Data System To Boost Power Reliability In Ashanti Region
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has launched a new digital platform to collect real-time data from five major power stations in the Ashanti Region, aimed at improving electricity supply and operational efficiency. With the aid of specialized computers, each station now sends live hourly updates directly to ECG’s System Controller allowing technicians to detect faults swiftly, analyze data more effectively, and respond promptly to fluctuations in electricity demand.

Total Mobile Money Transactions Hit GH₵365bn By April 2025
Data released by the Bank of Ghana has shown that the value of mobile money transactions went up significantly to reach GH₵365.0 billion by April 2025.Compared to the same period last year, the value of transactions was at GH₵303.0 billion. The steady rise highlights the increasing preference for mobile financial services among individuals and businesses alike, as the nation continues to embrace digital payment solutions.

Kosmos Innovation Center Invests $200,000 In 22 Startups Via Its Incubator.
Following the program’s final pitch event, the Kosmos Innovation Center, in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, has invested $200,000 in 22 startups as part of its 2025 AgriTech Pro program, which provides seed funding to ventures across the agricultural value chain.

Midiarack Wants to Simplify Media Buying in Africa
Set to launch in Ghana this June, Midiarack is a digital marketplace where advertisers can discover and book media spaces — including billboards, radio, print, and digital — from one streamlined dashboard. The company is currently onboarding media owners and building a waitlist of advertisers ahead of launch.
Ghanaian electric mobility company Wahu Mobility has officially received approval for its carbon credit program under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement.
In partnership with the Swiss government and the KliK Foundation, Wahu’s electric bicycle program has been designated as an eligible mitigation activity by the governments of Ghana and Switzerland. The authorisation allows Wahu to sell carbon credits, known as Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs), to Switzerland, helping the European nation meet its climate targets while enabling Wahu to scale its operations in Ghana.

Two Ghanaian startups, Freezelink and Revna Biosciences, have been listed on Bloomberg’s inaugural list of 25 innovative African startups to watch in 2025. Selected from a pool of over 2000 applicants, the top 25 companies consist of some of the continent’s most innovative companies reinventing biotechnology, finance, e-commerce, and eclectic mobility, among other things.
