Dr. Arnold Kavaarpuo Appointed As New Director of Ghana’s Data Protection Commission
President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr. Arnold Kavaarpuo as the Acting Executive Director of the Data Protection Commission (DPC). Kavaarpuo has been a key advocate for privacy rights and is expected to push for stronger data governance, regulatory enforcement, and public education to ensure businesses and public agencies uphold responsible data practices.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson during his 2025 budget presentation in Parliament announced the abolition of the much-opposed Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy). The removal of the E-Levy is expected to encourage more digital financial transactions, boost mobile money usage, and provide much-needed relief for businesses that rely on electronic payments.
