Amazon Web Services to Begin Charging VAT for Ghanaian Customers
AWS is the world’s leading cloud computing platform, offering a wide range of cloud-based services for businesses, governments, and individuals. Businesses and individuals using AWS services in Ghana will see an increase in their cloud service costs: Amazon Web Services (AWS) will start charging Value Added Tax (VAT) and other levies on its services for customers in Ghana from March 1, 2025.
Ghana Ministry of Communication to Present Startup Bill to Parliament
Ghana’s Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation is set to present the Ghana Innovation and Startup Bill to Parliament, aiming to formalize support for entrepreneurs and the country’s innovation ecosystem. The bill if passed, could provide a structured legal framework to boost startups, attract investment, and create a more business-friendly environment for innovators.

BlueSPACE Financial Cloud, in partnership with MTN MoMo, CALBANK, Rudder Brokers and other leading insurance providers in Ghana, has officially launched BeINsured, Ghana’s first USSD-based auto insurance marketplace. With this platform, drivers can access multiple insurance options, compare policies, and select flexible payment plans without an internet connection.
Japtu launches AI-Powered NFC Driver Card to strengthen Cargo Security in Ghana
Joint Association of Port Transport Unions (JAPTU has introduced the AI-Powered NFC Driver Card, an initiative aimed at strengthening cargo security, improving logistics efficiency, and boosting government revenue. The introduction of the Driver & Vehicle Management System (DVMS), coupled with NFC-enabled ID cards checks cargo diversion, unauthorized truck movements, and inefficiencies in freight tracking.
